It's a grey rainy Saturday here in London which for me is the perfect time to sit down and do some work or in this case, some blogging. Finally!
This question "What's your design style?" has been on my mind recently as it's probably one of the things I get asked most often by people so I thought I'd try and break it down here.
Since I started working as an Interior Designer, I've described my style as 'classic contemporary' which to me means respecting a building's heritage and keeping certain features that are in keeping with the time in which it was built but also bringing it into the 21st Century, basically adapting said houses for modern life - all in a timeless way. Design which lasts and won't go out of fashion after a few years.
However, I realised the other day that there are a few key things that I'm drawn to in Interiors which have an influence on my design style -
1) I tend to like duality in interiors - black & white, dark & light, masculine & feminine
2) A sense of elegance, drama & romance
3) Boutique hotel feel. When it comes to residential design, I like to create a home that feels like a sanctuary and/or provide a sense of escape from the occasional stresses of daily life.
Et voila! My design style...
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
